This gruesome action comedy is not a movie you would want see with your mother… But is easily the funniest superhero movie of all time.  If you are familiar with the the hero world,  you know that Marvel is known for throwing out a few jokes here and there, mocking other productions. This movie is also very graphic and contains violence, language, nudity and sexual scenes. Overall, the movie is a great film and will have you laughing till the very end.

The story takes place in New York City where Wade Wilson (the main character) works as a mercenary and falls in love with a woman Vanessa, whom he meets at his local bar. Eventually, they become engaged, though suddenly Wade collapses, and he is diagnosed with a terminal cancer. As Vanessa looks for a solution to prolong his life, he leaves in the night and is approached by an agent who claims he can cure Wade’s cancer. After treatments, Wade finds out that those treatments were actually turning him into a “superhero.”  His doctor, Ajax, tells Wade that he is going to be sold to the highest bidder once treatments were over. Ajax puts Wade in a airtight chamber which gives him severe physical disfigurements. Wade becomes “Deadpool” (the name of a game at his local bar), hunts down Ajax for revenge, and attempts to get Vanessa back.

Wade Wilson/”Deadpool” is played by Ryan Reynolds, Ajax is played by Ed Skrein, and Vanessa is played by Morena Baccarin.  All actors did an amazing job portraying the character’s overall attitude and appearance.  One specific thing that I enjoyed about the movie was when Deadpool himself talks directly to the audience notifying them that he knows he is a fictional character.  Also, I enjoyed how the producers decided to mock the X-Men directly in the film bringing two sidekicks along. Who try and convince Deadpool that he could be a better person, and then Deadpool totally shutting them down.

If there was a very obvious moral to the story, I would tell you; since there isn’t,  I’m going out on a limb here and I’m thinking… looks don’t matter? Overall, this movie is great for young adults and anyone who enjoy young adult humor.  I feel that anyone who does not enjoy raunchy movies will most likely find the film distasteful.  The movie is DEFINITELY rated R; every single minute of the film was highly inappropriate for young viewers. If I could describe the movie in one word it would be EXCELLENT! I would give it 8 out of 10!
